The ministry started in December 1987 when some Christian families from Manila transferred residence on the said place. They started with informal visitation and Bible Studies.
The first ministry that was established in the area is the Feeding Ministry, wherein we fed the undernourished children of the community twice a week and took this opportunity to share the love of the Lord to the recipient children and their parents. Then, Vacation Bible School followed. The whole week of teaching ministry was a blessing and victorious. This opened up to a weekly Bible Study and Sunday School. Every Sunday afternoon, together with some volunteer workers, we tenaciously ministered to the people of Letre community.
December 8, 1988 the first Worship Service was held in the house of a volunteer worker--it became then, the meeting place for worship. Year 1989: when a certain person encountered a problem that forced him to sell the "Rights" of his lot to the church. The church decided to buy the rights. The problem which a certain person encountered made way for the church to acquire a piece of land to be used for worship. 1989, the worship service was held in the bought lot with sackcloths as walls. The need arose to build our own Worship Center in Letre, with many people sacrificing for the building of the church. The offering came from Pastors, leaders and ordinary members of the church. The construction was started, being able to build the walls and the roof. Then the ministry experienced years of stagnation in growth due to lack of a full-time shepherd.
Year 2000, Ptr. Rosauro C. Montorio (also known as Ptr. Rasty) became the new pastor of the church. He coninued the ministry and also focused on improving the facilities of the church and raising up its leadership foundation. The church has grown in number of members, attendees and volunteer workers. Cell groups multiplied and people's giving increased.
The church through its ups and downs, has a big mission. Its strategic location means a lot to us. Being located in the vast squatters' area, it is an area of darkness and hopelessness. There stands the light. It is the center in the center as we call it, where people can go for healing of their soul and spirit. This is the center which God can use to send forth hope and light to the dark and dying community.
Jesus Hope of the Nations Church - Malabon. The name of the area carries a prophetic declaration, "Mala" which means bad and "Bon" is good. Anyone who responds to the call of the Lord in this area will be transformed from the Kingdom of darkness to the Kingdom of light. From bad life to good life, from "mala" to "bon".
Through God's grace, we now have the following ministries functioning. The Pastoral Care Ministry, Children Ministry, Youth Ministry, Worship and Outreach Ministry, Tutoring Ministry and Student Center. And believing God to open up more as He wills it to happen to us!
We are now registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission of the Philippines, with a complete set of officers.
